Laura Marshak

Dr. Marshak’s work was featured in an article in Counseling Today, a publication of the American Counseling Association.  It can be found online athttp://ct.counseling.org/2015/09/retaining-family-focus/

Dr. Marshak presented  at the World Congress on Down Syndrome in Chennai India Her presentation (with Courtney Williams) was entitled: Helping Fathers: Initial impact and adaptation over time.  August 20 2015

The topic of adapting counseling techniques for persons with intellectual disabilities was the topic of a talk Dr. Marshak gave with colleagues at the 2015  Annual Conference of the American Counseling Association. March 2015

Dr. Marshak presented : Growing together as a couple while raising children with disabilities in military families. Travis Air Force Base, Travis CA.  June 2014

Dr. Marshak presented  twice at the International Family Therapy Association’s conference in Panama City, Panama.   One  talk was entitled: Adapting to Childhood Disability: Cross-cultural commonalities. She also spoke on: Couples Therapy with Parents of Children with Autism. March 7 2014       

Two talks were presented by Dr. Marshak at  the International Conference on Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine in  Lucknow, India:

  •  Fostering family resilience while raising children with disabilities ( March 10 2013)
  •  Parent workshop on coping well with childhood disability. (March 9 2013)



    • Laura Marshak had an article  published in the April-May 2012 issue of Autism File: Marriage Boosters-8 ways to saty close and work together.

    • Fran Prezant served on the Advisory Committee for the 4th annualReelabilities: The New York Disabilities Film Festival that began in Manhattan on February 9th for a week, premiering the film Ocean Heaven and followed by a talk back by Jeff Harris, President of the Schottenstein Foundation from Cincinatti whose support heas helped springboard this into a national program this year.     • Fran Prezant was an invited participant at the 5th International Forum on Disability in Doha, Qatar.  Sponsored by the Sheika Mosa bint Nasser and Cherie Blair, the topic of this year’s forum at Shafallah was “Crisis, Conflict and Disability: Ensuring Equality” and was attended by  over 200 disability specialist and humanitarian aid organizations from over 50 countries. see more at: www.Shafallahforum.org
    • Fran Prezant served as an invited reviewer for the 2012 Dolly Gray Children’s Book awards recently presented by  the National Council for Exceptional Children’s Division on Autism and Developmental Disabilities.
